Country music's sweetest new power couple, Michael Ray and Carly Pearce, thrilled the crowd with an emotional cover of "When You Say Nothing at All" in Knoxville on Nov. 1. Readers can press play below to watch a video clip of the duo's rendition, captured by a fan at the intimate performance.

Pearce kicks off the sweet love song, joined on the chorus by Ray, as the pair blend a harmony on the tender lyrics. Written by Paul Overstreet and Don Schlitz and originally recorded by Keith Whitley in 1988. The song was immortalized in 1995 by Alison Krauss and her band Union Station when they recorded it for a Keith Whitley tribute album after his untimely death in 1989. Pearce joined Ray for his show on Nov. 1 at Cotton Eyed Joe in Knoxville for the spontaneous duet.

It's not the first time that the up-and-coming country couple have surprised the audience with a throwback cover. They teamed up for some June Carter and Johnny Cash for a cover of "Jackson" at the Grand Ole Opry back in August, not long after they confirmed rumors that they were dating. Additionally, Pearce has described her latest single, an up-tempo love song called "Closer to You," as a reflection of the recent changes in her life since releasing her debut album Every Little Thing, including the development of her relationship with Ray.

Pearce is currently on the road in support of Brett Young's Caliville Tour, while Ray has a full tour schedule of his own. The pair plan to team up on Friday evening (Nov. 2) at the Grand Ole Opry once again.
