‘The Voice’ Recruits Miley Cyrus as an Advisor
Billy Ray's little girl is returning to TV. In addition to bringing back Christina Aguilera as a coach, The Voice has recruited pop diva Miley Cyrus to help singing hopefuls in their journey to potential stardom.
Each season of The Voice features a “key advisor” to help the contestants during rehearsals (last season featured Rihanna), and Cyrus will play the role for the 10th season of the show.
The singer posted a photo of herself with Aguilera’s iconic red chair to reveal the news.
There have also been rumors that Gwen Stefani — who served as a coach last season and struck up a romance with country star and fellow coach Blake Shelton — may come back as a mentor for her boyfriend's team during Season 10, giving the couple some additional screen time together.
“I don’t want Gwen to not be on the show, why can’t we have a fifth coach?” Shelton said to Extra in December.
The pair broke the news of their relationship last fall, a few months after Shelton and ex-wife Miranda Lambert announced their split. Though Shelton says the year was rocky, he has also said it ended as one of the greatest of his life thus far, attributing that to some special people in his life.
“Sometimes you don’t know who’s in your life that can save you,” the country star says. “I found some people in my life that have changed my life forever.”
He says his upcoming album will be very personal, detailing his feelings during his divorce last year. "I never felt more connected to a record before. When people hear this record, they may not know what happened to me, but they’re gonna know how I felt about it,” he explains.
Season 10 of The Voice begins Feb. 29 on NBC.
