Meet Thor!

I freakin' love dogs.  Back in 2001, my mom decided to give me a Yorkie for my birthday.  (I really didn't want him.  He was too little.  You see, I grew up with Labs and mutts on the farm, and with very small exception, we always had big dogs.  I thought little dogs were silly.)

Thor turned out to be one of the best dogs I've ever had.  He loved everyone he met, unless they were a wanker.  Thor was good at picking out bad people.  The very best part of Thor was that he couldn't bark.  Our Brittney Spaniel showed him at a young age that eating his food wasn't cool, and as a result, Thor was blind in one eye and his voice box was punctured.  It never really affected him except that he would try so hard to bark loud like the other dogs, that most of the time he would bark and expel gas at the same time!  It was really funny.  My husband and I always thought if we could breed other Yorkies that couldn't bark, we'd be gazillionaires!

He was there for me while we went through my husband's 4 year illness and subsequent death 4 1/2 years ago.  I don't know if I would have done as well if I didn't have my little buddy by my side.  He died, just out of the blue, yesterday.  It's a sick, twisted irony that he died 4 1/2 years to the date of my husband.  I can only hope they're hanging out together now.  Thor took it pretty hard when he died, and I'm sure he's happy to see his dad.

Thor was my best friend, my best beach buddy and one of the best dogs I've ever had.  He made it to 11 years old, his birthday was this past Saturday, and almost everyone he met loved him.  I'm really going to miss that little guy.

Feel free to share your pet story with me.  I'd honestly love to hear it.
