75 Years Ago Today
Can you imagine being on the beaches in Normandy and looking out to sea on this day in 1944? You would have thought you were dreaming when you witnessed 6,939 Navy ships and landing crafts,11,590 aircraft supporting the invasion, and 156,000 allied troops of which 73,000 were brave young Americans, many of them dead before they even set foot on land. The sea and sand turned red, the color of courage, sacrifice, and freedom. And because of that greatest generation, we all enjoy the lives we live today. May God keep a special place for all of them and the ones who followed, we are forever in your debt.
