Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Spoilers: Did Chloe Bennet Reveal Coulson’s Blue Alien?
Well, this was a trifle unexpected. Marvel's 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' has crafted an intriguing mystery around Coulson's resurrection, which apparently included a compound derived from a blue alien corpse, but thus far Marvel has only nodded along with fan theories about Kree, 'Guardians of the Galaxy' races, and more. Now, it seems series star Chloe Bennet may have definitively confirmed the identity of the mysterious creature in a new interview...
Via FanBoy Comics (h/t to ScreenRant), we'd heard before that Bennet had been loosely predicting and researching the Kree race of Marvel lore based on fan speculation for the mysterious blue creature, but the video interview above strangely finds the actress flat-out confirming the Kree, as if it had been an established fact. Kree had certainly emerged as the prevailing fan theory, with logical ties to Marvel's 'Guardians of the Galaxy' and a namedrop from Sif (Jaimie Alexander) in "Yes Men," but thus far the mysterious blue creature that saved both Coulson and Skye from death had only been speculation.
Asked about the future of her character Skye, Bennet says in the interview:
I have no idea. I mean, I know that the alien was a Kree, as we all know, as they say it, and i was injected with serum made from...that. And I am cured, and to normal humans like Coulson, he almost died for me, for some reason I...nothing happened! So I have been Googling all day long, I snuck into Meltdown [comics] yesterday, and asked 'Do you have any comic books that have to do with Kree?' I'm trying to find out in every way possible!
Keep in mind, Bennet's isn't the definitive word on the alien's identity, or that it wouldn't be the first time we've seen an actor casually disseminate false information, or she may simply have misspoken. Still, it's a surprisingly confident admission from Bennet, where previously Marvel hasn't yet confirmed the identity. ScreenRant in particular has some intriguing extrapolations based on the apparent Kree confirmation, as well as the Ultimate Marvel comics, and a fan-favorite character we've been wondering about for 'The Avengers: Age of Ultron.'
Marvel's 'Avengers'-adjacent series will return on April 1 with Deathlok's "End of the Beginning" rampage, but in the meantime, what say you? Is the cat officially out of 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.''s bag for Coulson's mysterious blue benefactor?
