Does anyone ever actually eat a gingerbread house?

Sure, the kids may try to take a nibble of the cement-like gingerbread panels. They may even pop a piece or two of the world's most stale candy into their mouths while assembling and decorating their gingerbread house.  But I'll bet you $10 that they don't eat much of it.

The gingerbread houses are strictly for fun.

It is a tradition in our family to decorate at least one gingerbread house every Christmas. My job is to mainly help with construction, "gluing" the pre-cut walls and roofs together with that nasty frosting. Then the kids go nuts decorating the creation with hard gumballs, candy pieces, sprinkles, and whatever else came in the kit. Ours usually look somewhat similar to the image below.

Awesome Gingerbread houses I found in Billings.

I was running errands today, and when I saw this cool assortment of gingerbread houses at World Market they instantly caught my eye. My kids - and perhaps you - will absolutely love some of these.

Barbie Gingerbread?!

I'm regretting not buying this today because I feel like when I come back next week, they'll probably be all gone. My 10 and 6-year-old girls will go CRAZY for this one.

The classic.

Want to keep it simple? These would be great for younger kids too, who sometimes lose interest or get frustrated easily in the gingerbread house construction process.

If I was going to eat a gingerbread house.

The bright colors of Candyland are tough to ignore and this kit includes so much candy and icing and marshmallows, that if I was really, really hungry, I might just eat this gingerbread house.

Like Paris Hilton always said...

"That's hot." Mid Century Modern is currently a hot trend in real estate and decor, and this gingerbread house is super cool. I'd get that little camper (above) to go with the set.

Other assorted gingerbread.

Nutcrackers, Christmas trees, and the Eiffel Tower were a few other designs I spotted on the shelves.

Look around for cool gift ideas in Billings.

I find myself getting into the habit of shopping at the same stores for the same people every year and the only reason I stopped at World Market today, was to buy a bag of turkey brine mix. I'm so glad I ended up wandering around the store. Do you have a favorite place in Billings to shop for unique and fun gifts? Shoot me an email! michael@billingsmix.com
