Laurel High School Haunted by “Night at the Wax Museum”

You like comedy?  You like suspense?  Action?  How about Pirates?  Cowboys?  A Dinosaur?  Magic?  Treasure?  An Executioner??

Laurel High School's spring stage production The Night at the Wax Museum has all this and more.  The story is loosely based on the Night at the Museum film series, with historical figures coming to life from a magical spell.  This retelling includes groups of characters with their own reasons for spending the night at the spooky museum.

A group of high school students and their teacher are there as a make-up assignment in World History.

A group of volunteers work on a display of artifacts to honor an adventurous world traveler.

The building owner, her son and his girlfriend want the museum to fail so she can tear it down and build a mall.

The reanimated Pirates want the treasure, of course.

The reanimated Western outlaws want the treasure for the money, of course.

The T-Rex just roars.

Groups in the modern time meet groups in history.  What could possibly go wrong?

This Show Also Has Romance

There is the tension and chemistry between the school teacher and the museum's maintenance man.  Better still is the love triangle with Henry VIII and Cleopatra, and the spurned (and beheaded) Anne Boleyn demanding justice.  She even lawyered up with John Adams, 2nd President of the United States.

So who is the axe-wielding creep?  Well, you'll just have to see the show to learn that.

Directed by drama teacher Doug Andersen, The Night at the Wax Museum is campy, corny fun for the whole family with a large cast and chock full of historical and pop culture references.  Audience members can even make their own game of this play, listing all the history and pop culture found in the show.  Whoever gets the most wins.

Performances of this play are at Laurel High School this Friday April 19th at 7:00 p.m., Saturday the 20th at 7:00 p.m., and Sunday the 21st matinee at 2:00 p.m.  $8 for adults and $6 for students and senior citizens, and activity passes are accepted.  The address is 203 E 8th Street in Laurel, Montana.
