New Low Budget Movie with Big Name Celebs was Filmed Around Billings
Supercell
Supercell, a brand-new short film was released March 17 of this year. It stars the late Anne Heche which is her last work before she died in a fiery inferno car crash in 2022. She plays a mother who takes shelter during the Supercell storm.
Alec Baldwin also stars in this stormy thriller and of course, this movie was filmed before the tragedy happened on the set of “Rust” in which Baldwin has been charged with involuntary manslaughter. Baldwin plays the storm chaser who seeks the thrill of being in the eye of the storm.
The new movie, directed by Herbert James Winterstern, was produced as a low-budget film.
Supercell is a low budget film and a great example of what can be done with a little money and a vision. The movie has loud, chaotic scenes that emulate a tornado perfectly. I don’t know about you, but being in the eye of a storm can be quite violent and terrifying. Does this remind you of anything?
"Twister" with Bill Paxton came out in May of 1996 and was a huge production in the 90's. Twister cost a whopping $90 million to make. Supercell was produced at a sliver of the cost, but couldn't find an exact budget.
The fact Supercell is a low budget film goes to show that anything can be done with a good eye for directing and a cast that cooperates. The scenes look terrifyingly real, one in which shows softball-sized hail smashing windows. Alec Baldwin’s character is jazzed up about it even though it ruined his vehicle. Take a peek below.
Supercell is worth the watch for a couple reasons.
It was filmed around Billings! And it’s an entertaining film about how mother nature rules the world. Highly recommend watching if you enjoy movies about intense weather.
