Unique Billings Equine Center Hacked – Thousands Lost

Billings-based nonprofit Angel Horses was recently the victim of a computer hack, wiping out $71,000. Without help, they'll run out of operating funds in two months. This catastrophe follows heavy flood damage the facility received during the spring of 2023.

Angel Horses is awesome.

Angel Horses, Inc. rescues unwanted horses, donkeys, and other animals, AND provides free therapeutic animal outreach sessions for kids and adults. From the organization's About page,

"Our mission is to provide positive physical and emotional stimulus to the Senior community, especially those afflicted with Alzheimer’s, at-risk youth, special needs children, and individuals and families affected by cancer, through the use of rescued animals such as horses, donkeys, dogs and cats in a therapeutic environment."

According to GoFundMe and details posted on the Angel Horses Facebook page, the beloved non-profit was recently the victim of a computer hack that resulted in a stolen identity and a drained bank account.

Founded by Jonnie Jonckowski in 1998, Angel Horses relies entirely on donations to fund their programs. Deputy Smith of the Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office said, "In October 2024 Angel Horses Inc. was scammed out of $71,000. As the Non-profit sits now, they only have enough funds to continue operation for two months. We are asking for the community’s help to save this incredible non-profit."

Jonckowski's story is as special as Angel Horses, Inc. She rode bulls professionally (winning multiple world titles) and was inducted into the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame in 1991. Jonnie made the Montana Cowboy Hall of Fame in 2024.
