Better than a New Exhibit? Exciting News from ZooMontana
ZooMontana in Billings is getting a much-needed update.
Press releases from ZooMontana about an exciting new animal or exhibit are always great news, but this tidbit today is almost as thrilling. The zoo announced on its Facebook page that the parking lot is finally getting fresh pavement. Maybe it was paved (partially?) at one point in the distant past. It's hard to tell; in the past few years, the parking lot has deteriorated badly. Deep potholes on my last visit felt like I was driving through a rough cow pasture.
Thanks to generous community sponsors.
Anyone who has ever paved their driveway knows how expensive a fresh, smooth coat of asphalt can cost. The parking lot pavement project at ZooMontana couldn't have happened without local support. The zoo thanked some big names for helping lead the effort. Kampground of America, Scheels, Steve and Jennifer Corning, and Greg and Eileen McDonald were all big contributors.
Please note that the parking lot will be a "bit chaotic" for the next month. Watch and obey all construction signage as you enter the parking lot.
Great news on the heels of sad news.
ZooMontana recently lost a fan-favorite and one of the zoo's biggest stars, Bruno the Grizzly bear. Another recent bummer was the cancellation of Boo at the Zoo due to cold weather. While a parking lot may not be as glamorous as a new giraffe or a mountain lion exhibit (both would be pretty awesome), guests will certainly appreciate the parking lot upgrade for years to come.
The future is bright at ZooMontana.
The immediate future is set to be extremely bright when the incredible Holiday Nights light display and festival returns later this month at ZooMontana. If you missed the new-to-Billings display last season, check out some of our pics and more details HERE.
