18 States Backing Montana’s TikTok Ban
This is big news- 18 states are now backing Montana's Attorney General Austin Knudsen (R-MT) in his fight to uphold Montana's ban on the Communist Chinese app known as TikTok.
Montana became the first state in the nation to ban TikTok when Governor Greg Gianforte (R-MT) signed the measure into law.
As Reuters reports this week, 18 states are backing AG Knudsen's efforts to defend the law in court.
The state attorneys general led by Virginia and including Georgia, Alaska, Utah, Indiana, Nebraska, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky and South Dakota said the suits from TikTok and users should be rejected "because TikTok intentionally engages in deceptive business practices which induce individuals to share sensitive personal information that can be easily accessed by the Chinese Communist Party and because TikTok’s platform harms children in Montana."
As we previously reported, AG Knudsen has highlighted the dangers of allowing the Communist Chinese to spy on Montanans.
AG Knudsen: The federal government, other states, and other countries have recognized the dangers of TikTok because it is under the thumb of Chinese Communist Party officials, but the State of Montana is the first state to take action and protect its citizens’ privacy. Our legislators and Governor Gianforte did the right thing in prohibiting TikTok from operating in Montana as long as it is under the control of a foreign adversary. My office looks forward to vigorously defending the law as this case proceeds.
I would argue that Montana's Attorney General is the strongest AG in the country, and that is exactly why partisan Left-wing activists operating under the liberal Montana Supreme Court have lobbed this phony complaint that attempts to strip away the AG's law license and prevent him from being on the ballot in the 2024 election.
The Wall Street Journal actually called out the Montana Supreme Court for this nonsense in a new editorial:
The Supposed Misconduct of Montana’s Attorney General
The legal guild goes after Austin Knudsen for doing his job.
