Old Dominion Share Plans for Sophomore Album, ‘Happy Endings’
Old Dominion have announced that they will release their second studio album, Happy Endings, on Aug. 25. The news follows the May release of the band's first single from the new project, "No Such Thing as a Broken Heart."
Further details about Happy Endings, such as a track listing, are not yet available, but if the happy-go-lucky "No Such Thing as a Broken Heart" is any indication, the album will be an upbeat musical frolic. Old Dominion's lead singer, Matthew Ramsey, says that the song sets the tone for the whole record.
“We felt like it was the right next step for us as a band,” Ramsey tells Entertainment Weekly of "No Such Thing as a Broken Heart." “We know what we are capable of as songwriters, and we wanted to show a new side. This still sounds like a party, but it has a message … It still sounds like us, but there is some heavier subject matter.
"We’ve definitely grown as a band," Ramsey adds, "and I think it shows in these songs.”

Happy Endings is the follow-up record to Old Dominion's first studio album, Meat and Candy. That disc, released in 2015, includes hits such as "Song for Another Time," "Snapback" and "Break Up With Him."
“We are so excited to release our second album! We've grown so much as a band and as songwriters over the last two years, and we think the songs on Happy Endings really showcase that," Ramsey says in a press release. "We cannot wait to share these new stories. Aug. 25 cannot come fast enough!"
After wrapping up their time on the road as part of Miranda Lambert's Highway Vagabond Tour this spring, Old Dominion are looking forward to a busy summer of shows across the U.S. A complete tour schedule is available on their website.
