‘SNL’ Deleted Scene: Anna Kendrick Gives Nickelodeon’s “ZAP!” a Dark History
This past weekend's 'SNL' installment with Anna Kendrick and musical guest Pharrell proved to be one of the stronger episodes of the season to date, and while we wait for this coming weekend to return 'Neighbors' star Seth Rogen to the stage, Kendrick had a bit more left in the tank. Watch the secret, dark history to '90s Nickelodeon series "ZAP!," in the latest 'SNL' deleted scene!
Considering how overstuffed with material the latest installment seemed, it perhaps isn't difficult to understand why 'SNL' opted not to include the "ZAP!" sketch, which sees Kendrick, Kenan Thompson, Taran Killam and Nasim Pedrad as the stars of a titular children's program. Describing it as "bright colors meets the phrase 'oh yeah!,'" Beck Bennett looks back over the show and its speedball combination of "Dirty Daddy's Party Pills" that put the performers over the edge.
It's a bit of a one-note, but watching the uber-adorable Anna Kendrick spazzing out on speed more than justifies the price of admission, especially when things start getting weird toward the latter years of the show. We're a bit less confident in this weekend's installment to prove as consistent, at least, so the more the merrier, frankly.
