A junior at Shepherd High School, Chevelle Sleaford has gotten some attention by turning plastic shopping bags from Target into clothing. The project was part of her entry in a station competition of the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America organization.

The design won first place in the "design and recycle" category. It made me wonder how many other projects like this have been done. Here are few others:

Sleaford will compete at the FCCLA national conference in July in Anaheim, California. If the letters FCCLA confused you, they were known as Future Homemakers of America. Work is going on now to help Chevelle raise money for the trip in July.
