"Steve Bullock Stays Mum as Fellow Democrat Demeans Joni Ernst's Military Service." That's how the conservative Senate Leadership Fund described a recent event in Iowa featuring Gov. Steve Bullock (D-MT) and a Democrat US Senate candidate.

As I watched this video, I wondered if anyone was even listening to what this guy had to say on the campaign trail in Iowa. But now it appears the guy is doubling down on his remarks about Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA).

The candidate, Democrat Eddie Mauro, was talking about Sen. Ernst's military service and then transitioned to service in the US Senate, saying "that requires a different kind of courage."

Now the guy is apparently doubling down, and demonstrating that he clearly knows nothing about the US military. As The Carroll Times Herald reports:

“When you serve in the military, you’re in line, you fall in line, people tell you what to do, you say, ‘Yes sir, no sir, yes ma’am, no ma’am,’ and you continue to do that,” Mauro said.

He should get his facts and quit using her service as an attack line. Anyone who has served in the military knows that good leadership and good units don't just act as yes men and yes women, they're actively integrated into the planning and decision making process.

The Senate Leadership Fund noted that Bullock was in attendance at the event, and ask:

Does Steve Bullock agree with Mauro's slander of military veterans lacking "courage" to serve in public office? If not, why didn't he speak up when he had the chance?

Or, maybe Bullock just tuned this guy out the way everyone else in the room seemed to. Either way, now that Mauro is doubling down- Bullock has ample time to call him out and defend Sen. Ernst. Don't hold your breath waiting for it though.
