Help Send the Billings REAL Girls Soccer Teams To Nationals

If you haven't stopped by one of Billings' newest breweries yet, 105 Coffee and & Brewery, here's a great excuse to visit the Heights establishment. Come support the REAL Billings 2009 & 2010 Girls Soccer Teams, as they raise funds for a trip to the USYS National Championship.

Both teams made Montana history this season, becoming the first teams in the Montana Youth Soccer league (boys or girls) to make it to the National Championships in Orlando, Florida. We spoke with one of the team managers, Jenn Cross, who said the girls have worked incredibly hard to reach this pinnacle.

The 2009 and 2010 REAL Girls soccer teams are comprised of girls who were born in 2009 or 2010, explained Cross, when I asked what the years stood for. Many of these girls, from schools across Yellowstone County, have played together since they were 8 or 9 years old.

Stop by their send-off party on Saturday, July 19th, at 105 Coffee & Brewing.

Since winning Regionals in Idaho and nabbing a Wild Card spot earlier this spring, the REAL girls have been fundraising to help cover travel expenses. One of their final fundraisers (before they head to Florida next week) is on Saturday, from 4-8 pm at 105 Coffee and Brewing at 815 Yellowstone River Road in the Heights.

The send-off party includes:

• $10 meal deals with a mouthwatering burger or hot dog, chips, and a drink.
• $20 raffle tickets to win cold, hard cash (1st prize is $500!)

For those unfamiliar with youth soccer, the USYS Championships are comparable to the Little League World Series. Hat's off to the 2009 and 2010 Girls Teams for making it to the Finals. We wish them the best of luck in Orlando and hope they'll bring a trophy back to the Treasure State.
