Every year, the CMA Songwriters Series travels to select cities to showcase the best troubadours in country music. This year, the program will include country music darling Carrie Underwood, who will get to make her first-ever appearance at the event in Boston on July 31. Underwood and other presenters will take turns giving raw performances of their most popular songs, and telling the stories that lie behind their hits.

The ‘Blown Away’ hitmaker will be joining Brett James (writer of her first No. 1 hit, ‘Jesus Take the Wheel), Luke Laird (who penned Underwood’s ‘So Small,’ ‘Last Name’ and ‘Mama’s Song’) and Hillary Lindsey (who wrote a number of Underwood’s hits, as well as Lady Antebellum‘s ‘American Honey’ and Sara Evans‘ ‘A Little Bit Stronger’). The evening’s host will be Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame member Bob DiPiero, who is responsible for Tim McGraw‘s ‘Southern Voice,’ George Strait‘s ‘Blue Clear Sky’ and Brooks and Dunn‘s ‘You Can’t Take the Honky Tonk Out of the Girl.’

“I’m so excited to be a part of the CMA Songwriter Series with Hillary, Luke, Brett, and Bob!” Underwood said in a statement. “Not only are they some of the most respected songwriters in Nashville, but I’m very lucky to call them my friends. It’s going to be a great night!”

While the award-winning country singer has turned to other songwriters for material at times, she played a serious role in writing ‘Good Girl,’ ‘All American Girl’ and ‘Temporary Home.’ Ticketholders to the event will get to hear Underwood talk about writing those three songs, and they’ll hear her perform each tune on her own.

“We first brought the CMA Songwriters Series to Boston last year and it was a huge success,” said Steve Moore, CMA Chief Executive Officer. “We are so excited to have Carrie participating in this event. New England’s country music fans are in for an unforgettable night.”

The event will take place on July 31 at 7PM at the Royal Night Club in Boston. Tickets go on sale Friday June 29 at noon ET. Country music fans in New England can visit Ticketmaster.com to score a spot at the event.
