Disclaimer: This is NOT a paid review.  This is just some place I went for a weekend getaway and thought I'd share.

If you don't love road trips, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho might not be worth a weekend trip from Billings, but if you consider the journey part of the getaway, I think it's doable.

Coeur d'Alene Resort can be on the spendy side, but if you shop in the off season, you're likely to come up with some decent deals.  Of course the trade off is that many of the lake activities (mainly the tour boats and sea plane) aren't available this time of year.

The resort has the amenities you would expect from a luxury resort: a top rated spa, a five star restaurant, luxurious rooms, overpriced shops (and some reasonable ones), etc.  I'm no golfer, but most serious golfers know about the famous floating green here on Lake Coeur d'Alene.  Of course, golf is another thing you'll need to forgo in the winter months.

The town itself has quite a bit of charm that's worth mentioning.  I visited several local shops and there are plenty of reasonably priced meals within walking distance.  The town doesn't feel overly touristy (at least not in February).

I took quite a few pictures while visiting, but I have to say that my pictures don't begin to compare with the ones on the resort's website, so if you're interested in checking the place out, I would advise you start there.  The one pic that I did share is the view from my room and I'd give it a 4 stars easily.

At just over 500 miles from Billings, it doesn't meet everyone's definition of "weekend road trip", but personally I think it's worth the travel time.
