Dale Earnhardt Jr. vowed before the race that he'd join Twitter if he won the Daytona 500. Late Sunday night, that statement turned into reality. After a six-hour rain delay, Junior went on to win his second Great American Race, ten years after reaching victory lane the first time. It didn't take long for NASCAR's most popular driver to follow through on his pre-race promise.

Despite his hesitance to join the social media platform, JR Motorsports reserved the handle @DaleJr two years ago in case the driver ever changed his mind. The account had well over 200,000 followers before the race, but more than 100,000 more fans have flocked to his page since, giving him nearly 340,000 followers at last check.

Junior appears to have picked up Twitter pretty quickly by sharing a selfie with a statue of his late father outside the famed race track.

We'd imagine now would be a great time to start following Junior, as he documents the dozens of media appearances he'll be making around the country this week.
