Lyle Ruterbories is the manager of the Kintla. He’s been the manager, the handyman and the rules enforcer of Glacier National Park's Kintla Lake campground for over 20 years!

What makes it so special is his age. Lyle is 93 years old!

Ruterbories holds the distinction of being the oldest known seasonal ranger in the National Park Service. He and his wife have spent every summer since 1962 in Glacier as campground hosts. They have seen it all over the years. How cool is that!

In 1991 Ruterbories became a seasonal ranger in 1991 and has come kept coming back ever since. He lost his wife in 2005, but continued on because “the lake along the Canadian border was her paradise on earth”.

And at 93 the perils of the job might be catching up with Lyle. He is considering surgery to fix a bad knee. He says the years of hiking around the hills and campground have taken there toll.

But the good news is Lyle made it official yesterday, if the surgery is successful, he will return for another year as campground host.

That is if the government get restarted and opens the parks up again!
