Meet Billings' featured Wet Nose Wednesday Pet, Apollo.

This all-American dog is a big bundle of love, and he's ready to be adopted now at Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter in Billings, Montana. Apollo is a four-year-old neutered male, believed to be a Labrador Retriever mix.

Sadly, life happens and sometimes pets get surrendered to YVAS.

We're not here to judge and I understand that for most people, surrendering a pet is a very difficult decision. Unfortunately, Apollo's former family is moving and is unable to keep this sweet, friendly dog. Their loss is your gain because Apollo has a lot to offer.

Can Apollo celebrate the holidays with you?

If you adopt Apollo now, he'll have plenty of time to get settled into his new forever home, just in time to enjoy some leftover turkey scraps. Adopting a dog around the holiday season can work well; with many of us taking time off around Thanksgiving and Christmas, we'll have extra time to spend getting a pet acclimated to a new home.

He's a big, loveable, goof.

Apollo is a large dog, tipping the scales at a beefy 99 pounds. He's very handsome, with a smooth, brindle coat and a prematurely graying muzzle. Lindsay Dillon, Volunteer Coordinator at Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter, said Apollo does great with children and other dogs, and he loves riding calmly in the car.

Other ways you can support Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter.

Perhaps you're not in a position to adopt a new pet but would like to help in other ways. YVAS always accepts donations of dry and wet cat food, paper towels, puppy pads, hot dogs, shelf-stable treats, etc.

Financial support is always appreciated too.

Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter is a  501(c)(3) nonprofit and is the largest shelter in Montana. See all of the pets currently available for adoption HERE, and Thank You to Shipton's Big R for supporting animal adoption in the Billings area.
