Walk the Billings Rims and See the New Metal Art
Here is an excellent reason to take a walk.
The new Skyline Trail from the Billings Logan Airport to the Zimmerman Trail roundabout will be adorned with four new metal sculptures. Each stands about seven feet tall and depicts the peaceful activity and exercise you can enjoy along this Heights trail.
The installations started Friday afternoon the 4th and continue Saturday morning the 5th.
Thanks to a generous donation from Mayor Bill Cole and his wife Mrs. Anne Cole for the commission, Benjamin Breuckman created these playful iron figures.
"Anne and I love to see so many people enjoying the beautiful Skyline Trail,” Mayor Cole said in a press release. “Hopefully these whimsical sculptures will bring a smile to their faces.”
You can join Mayor Cole and Mr. Breuckman for the October 5th installations starting at nine in the morning until noon.
Just as the pictures show, three of the four sculptures are a parent with a child in a carrier, a walker with a dog, and a bicyclist. The fourth is a hiker with a hat and walking stick. The metal is textured for a touchable appeal. So yes, you may touch the artwork, haha.
Actually, I can see these figures playing a part in many selfies and Instagram posts of the Rimrocks experience. Please feel free to share your pics with the big metal models.
I predict some Halloween costumes on them soon, and after the Cat or Griz gear.
"Ben's artwork reminds us that it's fun to be outside,” said Mayor Cole.
