Walk Out of the Darkness in Billings for Suicide Prevention
The event is still a month away, mid-September the 15th, but it should be on your calendar now.
Suicide is a devastation upon a family and friends. Lost three friends this way over my life and each hollowed me out, leaving me empty. Suicide is the 9th leading cause of death in Montana and while yes, it can be tough to get by in this state, that doesn't mean bailing out on life.
There are many people who care about you and will support you if needed.
One such group is the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention with the Yellowstone Valley Out of the Darkness Walk. The event chair, Nancy, has been diligently organizing and attending fundraisers throughout the Magic City and the upcoming Walk.
And you are invited to either walk in this event or volunteer to help out.
This 20th annual Walk will be on Sunday, September 15th at Will James Middle School located at 1200 30th Street West in Billings. The get-together starts at 12:30 in the afternoon with a silent auction, music and activities. At 2:00 will be the opening ceremony, then the actual Walk, and then wrap up at the closing ceremony at 3:00.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact Nancy at yvootdwalk@gmail.com or call her at 406-861-9112. You can register for the Out of the Darkness Walk at afsp.org/YellowstoneValley.
Nancy and the Yellowstone Valley Walk work to fight suicide and to promote and uphold good mental health.
And if you know someone who needs this critical support, please reach out to them, invite them and bring them Out of the Darkness.
