Yellowstone Art Museum Unveils Game-Changing FREE Access for All

Big news for Billings art lovers and art newbies alike.

The Yellowstone Art Museum (YAM) is rolling out the red carpet with a big announcement: starting October 13, 2023, admission to one of the finest art museums in Montana is absolutely FREE! Thanks to a $240,000 grant from the Art Bridges Foundation's "Access for All Initiative," you can now stroll through the YAM's halls without spending a dime.

Free admission through 2026.

Not only will the grant cover the cost of admission, but it's also footing the bill for a new Membership Coordinator's salary and new marketing materials, aimed at bringing in fresh faces to the museum scene. Before this initiative, the YAM was already drawing in an impressive 12,000 visitors annually. Now that it's free, those numbers will surely climb substantially.

Although the grant officially kicks off on January 1, 2024, Jon Lodge and Jane Deschner are extending the gift of free admission immediately, making sure everyone gets a taste of this incredible Access for All mission.

Memberships still matter.

They'll still be offering a lineup of annual museum memberships that come packed with perks. Think discounts at the YAM store and café, special event tickets, and exclusive access to the Summer Art Academy and YAM Camp. Higher-tier memberships serve up even juicier benefits, including private events, behind-the-scenes peeks, and intimate artist chats.

What's showing now at the YAM?

If it's been a while since your last visit to the Yellowstone Art Museum (or if you've never been), now is a great time to check out the current exhibits. Some highlights include the Will James display, and paintings from Joseph Henry Sharp; both popular Western artists. A woodcut prints exhibit by MSU art professor, Gesine Janzen opens October 19.
