ICE Hold, Drunk Driver Banned from Yellowstone National Park
"Bozeman man." Rrrrrrrightt...then why is he on an ICE hold?
NBC Montana had this headline: Bozeman man sentenced for drunk driving in Yellowstone, banned from park for five years
@WhiskeyMontana99 on X then replied to the post by NBC Montana saying, "you conveniently left out that he is also in jail on an ICE hold. Bozeman man." (Followed by laughter emoji)
I then checked the Gallatin County jail inmate roster- and yep, the suspect has been on an ICE hold.
You can't entirely fault NBC Montana for not knowing that he was on an ICE hold. This was all the information that was put out by the US Attorney's office in Wyoming. (And why is the US Attorney in Wyoming calling a noncitizen a "Bozeman man?")
Andres Sanchez Yobal, 64, of Bozeman, Montana, pled guilty to operating a motor vehicle with a breath alcohol concentration greater than .08, and operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license in Yellowstone National Park. He was then sentenced to a 60-day term of incarceration with credit for 19 days previously served and was ordered to serve the remaining 41-day term of incarceration immediately. The defendant was also placed on five years of unsupervised probation under various terms and conditions including a ban from Yellowstone National Park during the probationary period. U.S. Magistrate Judge Stephanie A. Hambrick imposed the sentence on Sept. 19 in Mammoth.
By the way, some of you legal junkies might be wondering- why is a drunk driving case in federal court? Since the crime allegedly occurred inside of a national park, there is actually a special magistrate judge that covers cases inside of Yellowstone. I had the magistrate on the radio a few years ago- they get some pretty interesting cases.
