‘Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit’ Unveils First Poster
Coming on the heels of the unfortunate news that author Tom Clancy passed away last night, the first poster for 'Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit' -- inspired by the character created by Clancy -- has been revealed. The poster for the film, which stars Chris Pine in the Ryan role, prominently features Clancy's name -- seems like a pretty fitting tribute to the late author.
'Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit' is the latest entry in the Ryan saga of films, which have previously starred actors like Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, and Ben Affleck as the titular hero. Chris Pine plays Ryan this time around in a film directed by Kenneth Branagh ('Thor') from a script by David Koepp.
Today, we get our first look at the poster for the new Jack Ryan film.
Clancy wrote over a dozen stories featuring Ryan, four of which became films: 'The Hunt for Red October,' 'Patriot Games,' 'Clear and Present Danger,' and 'The Sum of All Fears.' Though the films about Ryan have typically followed the hero in a more established capacity, this new film is more of a prequel.
The story follows a younger version of Jack Ryan as he works to uncover a terrorist financial plot. Joining Pine in the film are Keira Knightley, Kevin Costner, Kenneth Branagh, and David Paymer. 'Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit' hits theaters on December 25, 2013.
