‘Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit’ Overwhelms with New Photos and a Clip
'Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit' hits theaters in a little over a week, and this franchise reboot, which stars Chris Pine, Keira Knightley and Kevin Costner alongside director Kenneth Branagh, has just offered a number of stills along with the clip above.
Originally Paramount was set to have the film open at Christmas, but due to 'The Wolf of Wall Street' needing a little more time in the editing room, 'Jack Ryan' was pushed into January. The first month of the year used to be considered dumping grounds for bad movies (while most of the box office heat would stay on Oscar hopefuls), but we've seen bigger pictures try their luck in the early months with some success, so that's no knock against it.
'Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit' will be on the big screen January 17. Here's the film's synopsis:
Based on the character created by bestselling author Tom Clancy, “Jack Ryan” is a global action thriller set in the present day. This original story follow a young Jack (Chris Pine) as he uncovers a financial terrorist plot.
The story follows him from 9/11, through his tour of duty in Afghanistan, which scarred him forever, and into his early days in the Financial Intelligence Unit of the modern CIA where he becomes an analyst, under the guardianship of his handler, Harper (Kevin Costner). When Ryan believes he’s uncovered a Russian plot to collapse the United States economy, he goes from being an analyst to becoming a spy and must fight to save his own life and those of countless others, while also trying to protect the thing that’s more important to him than anything, his relationship with his fiancée Cathy (Keira Knightley).
