Update 7/11 2:30 p.m.

MSU Police Chief Frank Parrish tells local media that police received a report during the noon hour that a university employee was disgruntled because he was being terminated from his job. Police also received a report that the man was on campus and possibly armed.

Parrish says that a social media post made by the suspect earlier in the day indicated that he was suicidal and a threat to the public.

It was at this point that a shelter-in-place was issued shortly before 1:00 p.m.

Parrish says when the male suspect was located inside of a campus building a short time later he was taken into custody and he was not armed.

Police say that at some point during the situation the department believes that the man may have brought guns on campus, including two shotguns and a rifle, but authorities have not located any weapons.

Police located the suspect's car on campus and have impounded the vehicle.
