The curtain had barely fallen on MontanaFair last year when the bulldozers moved in, leveling three antiquated, 1930s-era barns and stables.

Bulldozing the outdated and dilapidated structures paved the way for a modern, 25,000-square-foot, $1 million Ag Barn. The facility, which can house up to 100 stables for horses and livestock, is part of a long-term capital improvement project at MetraPark.

The new Ag Barn, which is next to the Super Barn on the MetraPark grounds, has been completed to coincide with the 100th anniversary of MontanaFair.

The new stabling facility, which is maroon and cream-colored to complement MetraPark’s other newer buildings, will be dedicated at 2 p.m. Aug. 8.

Following the dedication is a reception at the Heritage Building, dubbed the Ag Sprouts building for MontanaFair. The reception is hosted by the Montana Agri-Women and begins at 3 p.m.

The Ag Barn is paid for with a charge on all rentals that take place at the facility throughout the year.
