One of the neater aspects of living in Billings is that there is a lot to see less than an hours drive in nearly any direction. For instance, about a 5 minute drive south of Lockwood is Pictograph Caves State Park. Registered as a national monument the caves are an interesting trek back through time. Unfortunately modern photography has wiped away many of what once were vivid drawings from ancient native Americans but there are still some to be seen. I was rather struck by the vast difference in topography in comparison to Billings which is just minutes away.

If you're looking for a way to tear your kids away from the Xbox, spend some quality family time together and help them understand the natural beauty which draws so many other Americans to Montana to vacation or to relocate and improve their quality of life then an afternoon sojourn to Pictograph Caves State Park is in order.
