Property Taxes

The Montana Freedom Caucus in the state's legislature is calling for a special session of the legislature in order to provide additional property tax relief. All this, as the group says Montana's revenue forecasts are now approaching a surplus nearing $1 billion.

Cue up Jerry Maguire and "SHOW ME THE MONEY!" If you're a Montana taxpayer, chances are- you already got your income tax rebates in your bank account. Tuesday marks day one for you to also apply for your property tax rebates.

If you know me, I'm all about kids. But you can't put an ADDITIONAL 142 million dollars on property taxpayers here.

If you own property in Montana, taxes can be a bit steep depending. However, it's almost that time of year again, and we have a date you need to know.

We're being overtaxed.

The concern for most is what the expense will be. And according to our caller, it's going to be quite expensive.

Our tax system in this state isn't fair but there may be a solution.

If you're reading this, then you are probably as mad as I am over how over-taxed most of us are. I got my property tax statement last week. Woof. I'm glad that they finally have broken down all of the places my money will be going.

News out today from Yellowstone county painted a rosy picture for revenue, according to the Billings Gazette. The county reported revenue at 57.98 million dollars. That's an increase of almost 2 million dollars over last year.

Don't forget your property taxes are due tomorrow. You know, the ones that continue to go up the older and more used your house becomes.  Taxable value, how can a twenty year old window, roof or hot water heater become more valuable...
