Oreos may have found themselves in the midst of a serious consumer fraud scam.

Okay, not really, but the beloved snack is on the defensive after a study found that Double Stuf Oreos do not actually have double the amount of creme of regular Oreos.

In an attempt to spice up his consumer math class, teacher Dan Anderson, of Queensbury, New York, had his students measure the heights and weight of regular Oreos, as well as Double Stuf and Mega Stuf. As it turns out, Double Stuf Oreos were actually 1.86 times the size of regular Oreos and Mega Oreos were 2.68 times bigger than regular Oreos.

Despite the students' conclusion, a spokeswoman for Nabsico, which makes Oreos, said, "While I'm not familiar with what was done in the classroom setting, I can confirm for you that our recipe for the Oreo Double Stuf Cookie has double the Stuf, or creme filling, when compared with our base, or original Oreo cookie."

As for his students' findings, Anderson said, "This class is for students struggling with math so I'm always looking for hands-on activities." Not to mention tasty ones.
