Hopefest Mattress Racing
Last week I was invited by Livin' Large Larry to help push our mattress in the mattress races which was part of the Hopefest fundraising drive for the Montana Rescue Mission. What a great time! Everyone decorates their "racer" which looks like a little race car. It's basically a platform on wheels to hold the bed decorated with plywood to look like a car or a truck and I really the loved the creativity of the people who built these cars and trucks. In the picture above you'll notice "Tow Mater" from the Cars movies. One of the vehicles was made to look like an International semi with working headlights and a local graphics company made their car look like the hood was taken off with the huge engine exposed.
Sadly we lost our first heat because we had a blowout. If our racer had stayed intact we probably would have won. Now I know how a NASCAR driver feels when he loses a wheel or his engine blows... minus the big money consequences.
