Billings Police Switch From Twitter To Facebook For Releases
This just in from the Billings Police Department on Twitter: (Kidding)
Administrative Lieutenant Matt Lennick said in a release:
For several years the Billings Police Department has utilized Twitter as a way to put out real time information regarding incidents taking place within the community. As Twitter has evolved, most recently in the past few weeks, it is no longer serving as the best method to broadcast our messages. Currently the Billing Police Department’s Twitter page will be operational, but will not be utilized by the BPD commanders to post information.
What is the plan without Twitter?
Going forward, the Billings Police Department is planning on utilizing its page on Facebook for these informational releases, such as crashes, stabbings, shootings, robberies, and more.
BPD plans on providing access to the Facebook page in the coming days to commanders, however, in the coming days, they have a backup plan in place in the event something happens that the public needs to be informed on.
What about other platforms? (Threads, Mastadon, TRUTH, Etc)
The department is continuing to monitor their options and what is available on other social media platforms, in order to find and use the best possible method for information transmission to the masses.
