Miranda Lambert Forgot the Words to Her Own Song in Concert [WATCH]
Even the stars forget the words sometimes -- yes, even to their own songs! During a recent concert, Miranda Lambert found herself completely blanking out during a performance of her song "Dear Old Sun."
Readers can press play above to watch the moment, which occurred when Lambert surprised Little Big Town's crowd at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium on July 29. "Dear Old Sun" comes from Lambert's 2016 double album The Weight of These Wings; she made it through the first verse and chorus just fine, but when it came time to start the second verse, she ... just forgot the lyrics.
Onstage, Lambert turns to LBT's Karen Fairchild and says, "I forgot the words!" The crowd at the Ryman clearly enjoyed the unscripted moment, as they laughed and cheered. Fortunately, Lambert quickly remembered the lyrics -- "I got it, I got it! Can we start over? Second verse," she asks the band -- and breezed through the song from there on out.
During her time onstage with Little Big Town, Lambert and the country quartet also covered the Dixie Chicks' "Goodbye Earl." The concert was part of LBT's 2017 Ryman Auditorium residency, Little Big Town at the Mother Church, which began in February; they also performed at the venue in May and have dates scheduled for September and November.
Lambert is not on tour herself this summer, though she does have a few tour dates on her calendar in early August. In mid-August, she will head to Europe for some concerts, and she’ll be performing Alaska and Canada in late September and early October.
