Montana Tops Nation In Fatal DUI’s
Drinking in Montana is nothing new. It's a Friday or Saturday night, we're wrapping up the week with friends while having a good time with a drink or two. That's when it's time to go home. The perfect scenario would be calling a cab or catching a ride with someone sober. The fact is, more people than none decide to drive while intoxicated.
The sad thing is, a lot of people die from it each year. What's even sadder? According to a story done by ValuePenguin, the Treasure State came in at the top of the list when it comes to DUI Fatalities. Each one hurting countless lives and changing them forever...just because it was 'more convenient' to drive than to stay safe.
Over the past several years, 846 people have been killed in traffic accidents involving at least one drunken driver in the state of Montana. That means 3.4% of drivers in Montana reported driving after drinking too much in the past 30 days, compared to the national average of 1.9% according to the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System.
That's a hard pill to swallow, especially with Memorial Day Weekend fastly approaching. During this holiday weekend, drunk driving fatalities are 4X higher than a normal weekend which is absolutely scary.
The Top 10 States for DUI Fatalities include:
- North Dakota
- South Carolina
- New Mexico
- South Dakota
Please don't be a statistic. Don't drink and drive. Save a life...even if it's your own.
