School District 2 just kicked off its "Yes For Kids" property-tax-increase campaign. Its shameful that they always exploit kids for their needs.

I equate this to scare tactics used by some on senior citizens to get their money.

People are already paying too much.

Tax Freedom Day this year is April 24th and that only covers federal, state and local. With unfunded liabilities, it's now about half the year. Americans spend 31 percent of all income earned now on taxes. Americans spend more on taxes than they do on food, clothing and housing put together.

Enough is enough.

It's time for schools to streamline and become more efficient. Start by cutting the duplicate and triplet administration positions and go from there.

If Catholic schools can provide a better education with higher test scores and college placement for half the cost per pupil, then School District 2 should be able to do it with twice the money.
