Every year we get asked how Flakesgiving started. Well, the first year (as I recall) we were just buying turkeys. And year one, we bought 52 and handed them out.

We feed people this week. Flakesgiving is about families having their Thanksgiving meal together at home. And not have to go out for it.

We finished up our "Stop Bys" last night at Octoberfest. I learned that if you are waiting for a table there, you can get a half priced beer to sip on while you wait. They even have a menu with descriptions of all 16 German beers that they stock...

For almost three decades, Mark and Paul have organized Flakesgiving and it's one of my favorite things to witness and volunteer for. What makes it special? For me, it's two things:

Billings is a special place. Every time we ask for help for someone or some project to help others, the support is overwhelming. This morning we raised enough money to give a young man his life back with a custom fit wheelchair. Insurance denied it, but Billings residents did not...

Our show today was different than what it normally is. We wanted to raise enough money for a custom wheelchair for a young man injured in a motorcycle accident.  His insurance would pay for the "basic" wheelchair, but no more. We asked for roughly $ 5000...

Here's a picture from when I picked up a check from the employees of Altana Federal Credit Union yesterday. Debbie Hartung made it her personal goal to get to the $5000.00 mark this year for Flakesgiving. And AFCU has given huge donations to our event for many years...

Chris White from Albertsons makes getting groceries for Flakesgiving happen. He gets a lot of help from the following; Briggs Distributing picks up all of those banana boxes that the meals go into. And they also haul the turkeys down to Metra Franz Bakery not only donates 1500 packages of rolls to us each year, but also sends a team down to help us on the day we hand out boxes every year... I want to take a minute and give a big THANK YOU to the Yellowstone County Tavern Association for helping us make Flakesgiving possible this year. Flakesgiving is something Paul and I love. Being able to give 1500 complete meals for folks that otherwise couldn’t afford to have one is wonderful for the community because everyone should be able to have a Thanksgiving meal together...

By the time you're reading this we are already rolling  at Metra with Flakesgiving. I always tell folks to come see it. Come see what your money is doing. Come see what couple hundred school kids from all around our area helping out looks like...
