Laurel, Montana, a suburb to the West of Billings, has a population of approximately 7,000 people. The major industries, of course, are the refinery and the railroad, as the town of Laurel was built along the railroad tracks. In recent years, Laurel, Montana has grown quite a bit, adding large commercial businesses like Walmart, and unique businesses along Laurel’s mainstreet. One such business, Mainstreet Perk, is a ‘Friends’ themed coffee shop which locals and visitors alike appreciate and enjoy.
Laurel has a beautiful track and field facility that hosts tournaments and sports teams from across the state. For outdoor enthusiasts, Laurel provides easy access to the Yellowstone River with a boat ramp right at the edge of town. But Laurel’s biggest claim to fame is the annual Fourth of July fireworks display, which is allegedly the biggest fireworks display in the state. The town-wide celebration lasts multiple days and includes a parade, a pancake breakfast, a fun run, and a party in Thompson Park.
