A teacher in Florida was fired for giving some students a zero for not turning in their assignment. She got nothing from them so she reciprocated. The school has a no-zero policy, so everyone is giving nothing less than a 50%. But the student turned in nothing, so why? Now we know why our students are not proficient in math and reading. They don't have to do the work and are credited with knowing 50%. Sad. Which brings me to this: are we really getting what we pay for? If people buy jeans and the zipper doesn't work, we take them back. So, why aren't we demanding more from our educational dollars if we are not getting a quality product upon graduation?
