Why 65?
The speed limit between Lockwood and Laurel is 65 mph the whole way. Why?
The official explanation is to reduce accidents. The speed limit on highway 212 to Red lodge is 70 mph. That's one of the busiest highways we have around here and it's 2 lane with a 70 mph speed limit. Cities around America don't reduce speed limits in order to keep traffic flowing and if we have higher volumes wouldn't it make sense to do the same?
