‘Batman Vs. Superman’ is Eying Adam Driver for Nightwing
The news broke that 'Batman Vs. Superman' was looking for someone to play Robin only two days ago, and now there seems to be a leading contender for the role. 'Girls' star Adam Driver is being considered to play Batman's sidekick Robin, who's now going by the more badass name Nightwing.
The news comes from The Wrap, and it could mean a shot at the A-list for the emerging actor, who has had small roles in films like 'Lincoln,' 'Frances Ha' and the upcoming 'Inside Llewyn Davis.' Driver is an ex-marine, so he's definitely had some physical training that his previous roles wouldn't suggest. He would be playing Nightwing/Robin as Bruce Wayne/Batman's estranged partner. If cast, he would be joining Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, and Amy Adams in this 'Man of Steel' sequel/set up for 'Justice League.' This also suggests that the reports about Wonder Woman are likely correct.
Driver is an inspired choice as the audience who knows him from 'Girls' is not exactly the target demo of a 'Batman Vs. Superman' movie, so he could come in with little baggage. The film, which is currently labeled "The Untitled Zack Snyder Super Hero Film" is due in theaters July 17, 2015, and if they really want him, we could hear an official confirmation tomorrow.
