‘Chicken Soup’ is Billings’ Featured Adoptable Dog This Week
Our featured Wet Nose Wednesday pet this week is a sweet dog named Chicken Soup. He recently arrived at the Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter as a stray, without a microchip or any identification on his collar.
When nameless strays come to YVAS, staffers have the honor of naming them. We're not sure how this handsome pup got stuck with the name Chicken Soup, but he's certainly good for your soul.
Plus, it's easy to rename an adopted pet. My newest YVAS dog was named Dandelion when we picked her up... within days, she was responding to her new name, Jade. AKA, "Jadey Lady".

A loving companion.
Chicken Soup is two to three years old, said Izzy Zalenski, Community Engagement Coordinator at Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter. He's a Labrador mix, and he's just the right size.
Not too big, not small, Chicken Soup weighs around 60 pounds and is quite handsome, with large paws and a mostly black coat with several white highlights. To me, his adorable face somewhat resembles a Rottweiler. Only smaller. And without brown.

Chicken Soup is an affectionate pup who loves to cuddle, said Zalenski. He does well with other dogs and respectful children. He really likes playing in the snow, and if there's a car ride involved, even better.
