For the last several years, I've had a friendly bet on the big game with a guy in Kentucky.  We grew up together and for as long as I've known him, he has never had any interest in football.  Since he doesn't know the Browns from the Bears, he always lets me take my pick for the bet. So far, I've lost every bet. All of them.

This year, I think I will be nice and bet on the Patriots, which should ruin any chances they have of winning.  Is there part of me that hopes that professing this bet will somehow jinx my losing streak and result in a satisfying win?  Absolutely.
