Marshals Spin-Off Bombs: Good News For Montana?

I’ll be honest, I didn’t finish watching "Yellowstone." With the break between the first and second halves of the last season, I lost interest somewhere along the way.

But honestly, maybe it’s a good thing that its spin-off, "Marshals," just flat-out bombed.

The Real Cost Of TV Fame In Montana

Why do I say that? Because Montana residents have been paying a very real price for the popularity of these shows.

It's a lot of fun to see our mountains and rivers on screen, however, the fame has come with rising property taxes, unaffordable homes, and an influx of people who can’t resist moving here just because they saw it on TV.

Network execs and tourists might think Montana is just the backdrop for drama and action. But the people who live here are the ones dealing with the fallout.

Behind The Scenes: Residents Feeling The Fallout

We hear stories all the time of 4th and 5th generation Montanans who just can't keep living under the Big Sky.

Many communities are changing faster than residents can keep up with, all because of a TV show’s allure.

So, when I see that "Marshals" completely flopped, I can’t help but smile a little.

Maybe this is a chance for Montana to slow down, for the hype to cool off, and for locals to get a break. Maybe it’s time to remind the world that Montana isn’t just a TV set, it’s a real place where people live and work and deserve affordable housing.

Honestly, some things are better left a little under the radar. And in this case, the failure of a TV show might just be the best thing for Montana.
