Billings Tacos and Tequila Event Will Sell Out. Get Your Tickets Now

Tacos as we know them are believed to have been first created in the 1800s. Modern tequila was also created around the same time. Coincidence? I think not. Both have Mexican origins and both are extremely popular across the United States.

Even in Montana, where it's impossible to get any further from the Southern Border, people love their tacos. This author included. Vodka and whiskey are the top-selling spirits in Big Sky Country, but tequila is right up there. If you love tacos and tequila, do yourself a favor and come to the 3rd annual Tacos and Tequila event on June 23rd at The Depot.

The Billings Depot sits in the heart of downtown's Historic District on Montana Avenue. You've probably been there for a wedding or other special event. The former train station was built in 1909. A scene from the 1992 Tom Cruise/Nicole Kidman movie Far and Away was filmed in the building, which had started to fall in disrepair in the early 90s. A group was created to restore the complex, which is supported by private dollars. The Depot writes,

The Billings Depot is a 501(c)3 nonprofit special events venue that remains financially sustainable through three core revenue streams: facility rentals, private and corporate donations and rental fees from building leases on the Depot property.

 

So come eat good food on June 23rd. You'll be supporting a valuable community resource.

Over two dozen chefs, restaurants, and food trucks will be on-site.

Billings' best professional foodies will be creating unique specialty tacos and other Mexican-inspired menu items for guests to enjoy. The official tequilas for the event are offerings from Cabo Wabo, Espolon, and Montelobos.

The Brickhouse Band will take the stage along with Mariachis Del Corazon adding an authentic soundtrack to the evening. A team of judges from Magic City's Best will crown two winners at the end of the evening, Best Tacos and Peoples Choice. Trophies and bragging rights will be awarded.

Tickets start at $40.

General admission is from 6 - 9 pm. VIPs ($85) get early access and other extraordinary perks, beginning at 4:30 pm.
