Veterans Day is November 11

According to Military.com, many Americans confuse Memorial Day and Veterans Day. Both dates involve the men and women who have proudly served our county in the Armed Forces. Memorial Day is always the last Monday in May and honors those who have passed.

Veterans Day is always November 11th. It began with legislation passed in 1938, and it was initially known as Armistice Day. It marked the end of World War I, which occurred on November 11, 1918.

Two wars and a name change.

In 1954, Congress amended the Act and the November 11th date was renamed Veterans Day, at the recommendation of various service member groups. It made sense, as the United States had now been through two major conflicts since 1938... World War II and the Korean War.

We can't thank our Veterans enough.

Most Montanans have family members that have either served Uncle Sam or are currently enlisted. For many, it's a tradition. From great grandparents to upcoming high school graduates, it's just what many families do. Oftentimes, each generation opts to serve in the same branch of the military. A new salon in Billings is offering free haircuts to all active service men and women and Veterans from 11/8 through 11/12.

Free Haircuts at Twiggs Tonsorium in Shiloh Crossing

Merriam-Webster defines tonsorial as,

...a fancy word that describes the work of those who give shaves and haircuts. (It can apply more broadly to hairdressers as well.) It derives from the Latin verb tondēre, meaning "to shear, clip, or crop."

The new salon at Shiloh Crossing opened its doors in October and co-owner Sarah Hinkle said she and the crew of seven at Twiggs Tonsorium are honored to be able to offer the complimentary cuts. Hinkle said,

All [team members] have roots in former and future military family members. Between us all, we cover all branches of the Armed Forces dating back to WWII.

Twiggs Tonsorium is walk-in only. You are welcome to take a seat anytime between 10 am and 7 pm, 11/8 - 11/12, or you can check their online waitlist HERE. Their number is 406-969-1155.
