Montana Attorney Wrong When it Comes to Releasing Rape Records [Opinion]
An attorney for Montana's University System, Viv Hammill, has told the state Supreme Court that releasing records of a rape case will prevent other victims of sexual assault from coming forward.
She's WRONG.
It's just the opposite. If sexual assault victims know there might be a backroom deal to protect a certain individual, they will be less likely to come forward. They will not want to risk embarrassment or humiliation by claiming rape or assault.
In fact, they might even turn it around and question what her motives were. If there was no improper handling of this, the commissioner of higher education would have gladly produced what was being requested to clear him and the university.his is bad for future cases and there will be more to come....
