Massive Fireball from Space Seen Over Montana Thursday Morning
If you got out of bed early Thursday morning (9/25) and happened to be outside, you too might have seen a massive fireball in the sky over Montana. I had just woken up a little after 6 and was lying in bed checking my phone when I saw a wild video shared by my friend Mark Frizzell, from Manhattan, MT.
Mark was starting his day near Bear Creek in the Gallatin Valley when he captured the flaming space debris disintegrating as it slammed through Earth's atmosphere. Frizzell said the sight appeared in the southern sky near Hyalite Reservoir.
He quickly grabbed his phone to record the event and watched as it crashed to the surface somewhere towards the northern horizon. "It was cool to see," said Mark.
Meteors have been falling to Earth since the beginning of time, typically getting vaporized as they enter our atmosphere, but the uptick in space stuff disintegrating over our atmosphere is relatively new.
Humans put the first satellite into orbit in 1957, with Sputnik 1.
Today, approximately 12,000 satellites are orbiting the Earth. And what goes up must eventually come down. Unless, of course, this was an alien craft? You never know. 😉
