Most men seem to think they're a pro on the grill even if they're not so great in the kitchen. It might actually be true for some, but only a select few have the skills to back up the talk and they get paid handsomely for it.

This year, the Montana State BBQ competition heads to MontanaFair and gives area grill masters a chance to shine. This event is sanctioned by the renowned Kansas City Barbecue Society and they, like the competitors, take barbecue very seriously. How seriously? There's more than $10,000 in shared prize money this year and categories for all of America's favorite proteins: pork, pork ribs, chicken and, of course, beef.

I've been to a few of these things and in most cases, unless you're a judge, you pretty much just get to enjoy the smells. For this competition, you should come hungry. You'll be able to purchase samples starting at 4 p.m. as part of the new "Taste Of The Fair" event. Hallelujah.
